On-Stage co-operates with a well established Spanish school in Granada. Therefore On-Stage knows for sure, that they are working with an honest company and with sound teaching methods.

When you want to, On-Stage also arranges you a place to stay (see ‘places to stay’)

On-Stage is situated in Nicaragua, which makes us easy to contact if necessary.

Why Nicaragua?

Nicaragua is ideal for taking Spanish classes. Nicaragua has a lot to offer regarding nature and culture, and is still quite unknown and underdeveloped. Therefore life here is very different from life in Europe and you will have many different experiences.

When you want to travel on a small budget, Nicaragua is the place to be. Not only the accommodation and the Spanish classes, but also the daily life and transport are very cheap.

For more information see chapter ‘about Nicaragua’.

Accomodation

When you decide to take Spanish classes in Granada, you have three choices.

1. Host family. This is THE fastest way to learn Spanish. During your course you will stay with a Nicaraguan family and you will have your own room. Some families are also able to accommodate more students. You will receive three meals a day, which you will eat with your host family, special dietary needs will also be taken into account.

By staying with a host family you will receive more verbal practice. And the more you practice, the better your Spanish will become! Furthermore you will integrate into the Nicaraguan life and will become familiar with the local cuisine and culture.

To stay with a host family will cost €80 per week including meals.

2. A private room. Just as a stay with a host family has it advantages, so does a stay in a private room. What suits you best depends on your wishes and character. On-Stage offers the possibility to stay in a charming room near the Spanish school. The room is situated in the student house of On-Stage. This house is run by one of the most popular hostels in Granada.

The hostel offers free internet (with a wireless option) to all their guests.
Each room has a private bathroom and a double bed. There is a shared living room and a kitchen, so you can cook your own meals. Breakfast is already included in the price.

On-Stage can offer you a great deal in a great place which would not be available otherwise.

The cost for a private room is €10 per room, per night including breakfast and internet.

4. Arrange it yourself. You also have the option to organize the Spanish Classes with On- Stage and then arrange your own accommodation.

Granada

Granada is a beautiful colonial city and the main tourist attraction of Nicaragua. The photos on this page give you a small impression of Granada. Tourists come here to stroll through the beautiful city and to enjoy the nightlife. Granada has a lot of restaurants and bars where you can enjoy international cuisine and live music.

Granada also forms a tourist-gathering point because of it’s geographical position. It is situated in close vicinity to several volcanoes, beautiful lakes, lively markets and protected natural areas.

The Spanish school

The Spanish School is situated in the centre of the colonial city Granada and is easily accessible from the accommodation which On-Stage provides. The Spanish lessons are taught in different locations. The Spanish school contains one main classroom and several smaller classrooms.

A day in Spanish school will consist of classes and an activity (4 times a week). This means that in the morning or the afternoon, your teacher will take you on an excursion. There are all kinds of fun and educational activities, during which you can practice your Spanish language skills.

The Spanish courses are taught by very experienced and certified Nicaraguan teachers who have fun in their work. The make up of this Spanish School is special.

All teachers are board members, and so the company policy is formed in agreement with all employees. This is a big difference compared to other language schools in Nicaragua, where one big boss decides and the employees have to work for a minimal wage.

This Spanish School is also concerned about social issues. Besides the fact that all teachers have good working conditions, they also support social projects in and around Granada.

Teaching program

The classes exist of one teacher and one, two or three students of the same level. You can decide yourself if you want individual classes, or group classes. Of course you can only choose group classes if there is another student in the same week, at the same Spanish level as you.

The lessons take place from Monday till Friday and start every day at 08.00h. Half of the day you will have lessons at the school. You will devote 4 hours to grammar. The Spanish School provides classes for all levels of understanding.

At midday you have a two hour lunch break. When you stay with a host family you will enjoy your meal with them. If you stay in a room, you can decide yourself where you want to have lunch.

At 14.00h you are expected again at the Spanish School. Then you start your activity (4 times a week), or better said your practical lesson. The ‘normal’ activities are among others: a practical tour through town, cooking classes, a visit to the market of for example watching a cultural movie.

There are also optional activities for which you have to pay a couple more dollars. These activities are outside the city therefore there are extra transport costs. Or you go somewhere with an entrance fee.

Costs

Most of the times the costs are an obstacle. With On-Stage you will be positively surprised by the low costs. On-Stage is not looking for maximal profit, but is looking for maximal satisfaction of all concerned parties.

What also is in advantage for the costs, is that you will be in Nicaragua. Over here everything is a lot cheaper then in for example Costa Rica, Spain, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Ecuador or Argentina.
